Phew... busy weekend for weddings (and hen parties!)
8 Jun 2015
I've had such an amazing and exciting weekend this weekend, starting on Friday with Emma's wedding and then Sophie's wedding on Saturday. Emma and Sophie were really lucky to have the gorgeous weather they deserved for their special days. Both brides had had makeup trials prior to their wedding days, so were relaxed in the knowledge that their bridal makeup was going to be just as they wanted and would last all day and evening.
Emma opted for a very natural champagne eye (I used MAC Shroom shadow with MAC Kid in the crease) with bronze gel liner (Maybeline) and natural strip lashes. She teamed this with natural, dewey finished skin (I used ArtDeco Rich Treatment Foundation over a base of moisturiser mixed with cream highlighter and oil-free primer) with pink-toned blush and lips - beautiful for a summer wedding. Her bridesmaids had similar natural makeup, with slight variances to suit their skin tones and eye colours. I helped the bridal party with their dresses and they all looked gorgeous.
Sophie wanted more of a smokey eye for her special day, whilst keeping it quite natural. I blended MAC Kid and Urban Decay Gunmetal into the crease over a champagne, silvery lid. Sophie's skin was worked to a semi-matte finish using NARS Sheer Glow foundation over an oil-free primer. Sophie had eyelash extentions applied to give a dramatic yet naturally beautiful finish to her eye makeup. Sophie allowed her bridesmaids to have their makeup applied to their individual preferences. I ensured the products I used matched their skin types to ensure the makeup lasted, and used similar shades on the eyes so they co-ordinated with each other whilst maintaining their individuality. They all looked amazing.
On Saturday evening, I was lucky enough to be working at The Midland Hotel in Manchester, doing makeup for a group of ladies on a hen weekend. They all asked for very different makeup looks which is always fun for me! The makeup ranged from a natural eye makeup; gold lids with winged liner; taupe smokey eye; to a full on dramatic deep purple eye makeup with smudged black liner!
It's so much fun to be part of special events such as weddings and hen parties - the atmosphere is so lovely. I've always enjoyed the "getting ready" part of any event, and as a makeup artist, I get to enjoy this all the time whilst meeting new people along the way. I'm now looking forward now to Hannah's wedding this weekend!
