I'm often asked about the makeup brands and if the more expensive brands really are the better option. To answer this, I always give this prime example...
I once purchased Illamasqua's Precision Gel Liner, which set me back £18.50. Of course, at this price I had high hopes for this gel liner - I expected amazing, jet-black, perfect results with little effort in application. I was SO disappointed! Whilst the consistency was nice and smooth, the colour pay-off was rubbish, resulting in me having to apply two coats to get the desired effect. Applying it to the waterline was even worse!
I immediately returned to my trusted favourite duo of all time: Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Liner (for the lids) and Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Pencil (for the waterline). At a fraction of the cost (around £7-£8 mark), this liner is AMAZING! It's jet black (although it does come in a range of colours), glides on smoothly, dries quickly and you even get a little brush included which is not just great for top liner, but is really good to use on the top and bottom water lines. I've lost count of the number of pots of this liner i've bought, but every penny spent has been well worth it!
So in answer to the original question: no, the more expensive brands aren't always the better option. Try a range out and find the one that works for you.
